The newer ones will charge from the USB port as well as the charging port. This is usually the source of the failure, broken charging ports. I read a lot and therefore I need to charge them while reading. I am disabled and I use them to read ebooks mostly. I have broken 3 and a fourth is showing signs of dying soon.
